Summary

Since we proved that a library community would greatly benefit from metadata, it becomes clear that XML could provide all needed structure for bibliographic metadata. Even though the author believes that XML is a very relevant solution for our project, the results of her research also show alternative routes available in the information industry. More formal approach to the bibliographic standard would call to use SGML, namely the MARC DTD. Less complicated approach to metadata in the web publishing environment would utilize RDF. The emerging XMI standard must be considered by the software developers to succesfully interchange programming data.
