XMetaL Elements and Attributes

There is a very intuitive interface to add Elements to an XML document. XMetaL uses the DTD to automatically display any Elements that may be entered at a given point in the document being edited.

The Element Catalog window supports the ability to Insert or Change a highlighted Element easily. The ALL tab shows which Elements can be used at the specified point in the document, i.e. for the given location of the cursor in the Document or Structure views. The Used tab shows the most recent elements that have been used in the editing session that can be added at the current point in the document.

The Attribute Inspector window is used to edit the selected Element attributes. The figure below is an example of this window. The shown Attributes apply to the Letter Element of the example document.
