Online Help System Design is an 8-week online course that will teach you how to design online help systems. The course provides you with an overall understanding of the online help design process and a detailed understanding of the skills and tasks performed at each phase of the process. There are three assignments in this course. Each assignment builds on the other so that by the end of the course, you will have built a small functioning help system using Microsoft's HTML Help Workshop.

Prerequisites

We expect that most students will have some experience using screen capture software and authoring basic HTML documents. If you do not have any previous experience with creating HTML documents, you should first review the HTML and XHTML Publishing course, which is included as a bonus.

About The Instructor

The instructor will guide you throughout the course by providing one-to-one mentoring. During the course, the instructor will answer your questions by email, provide you with feedback on your assignments, and lead optional text chat sessions to discuss the materials and assignments.

Susan Bodnik is the author and instructor for this course. She has over 10 years of experience in teaching and developing online courses. Susan holds a degree in English from the University of Waterloo with specialized focus in communications, rhetoric, and online learning.
